And, move my blog days to Fridays for now? With my current writing schedule, which has the majority of everything due on Monday with Sleepy Hollow and Agents of SHIELD due on on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, Tuesday’s been acting like a–day off?
Not even really that because I do the preliminary watching of Sleepy Hollow to write that week’s review, so make of that what you will.
…it doesn’t help that, with the embroidery series (THAT STILL DOESN’T HAVE A NAME FOR SOME REASON), I really need something that I can just sit and watch/listen too while I work.
I need to get used to just streaming something like whoa on Netflix or Hulu. Y’all wouldn’t believe how much embroidery I got done mainlining the first eight episodes of the Supernatural anime (Who thought that was a good idea? It’s all sorts of not-right. <3)
So, speaking of getting work done, this is what I’ve been working on this week:
This is currently what the larger of my two work surfaces looks like. The other work surface has glass over a huge portion of it so that I can do monoprinting. I also has a huge cutting mat underneath it so that I always have a measuring/positioning grid, and when I’m doing fabric things, I have a huge cutting mat to, ya know, cut fabric on.
But, the piece that I finished (for certain values of “piece”–for my money, it’s an interesting experiment, but who knows, yeah?) is embroidery over mixed media (paint, ink, and pastel) on handmade paper that started off looking like this:
And, now that I’m done with the embroidery, it looks like this:
I thought I was having a kinda Cardcaptor Sakura/CLAMP moment, but when gnome came home and saw it, gnome’s first thought was that this is what The Lights Over The Arby’s (Welcome to Night Vale) look like.
So, The Lights are Wheels.
Kk. It’s possibly. I haven’t decided if I’m going to accept and adapt that interpretation, but it’s certainly more interesting than my whole lotta nothing I had going on. *hands*
So, yeah. Slow art-ing week is slow, but I GOT SOME THINGS DONE.
I’m–gonna go do something. *shifty-eyed*
Okay, I’m probably just gonna go play Candy Crush or make a cuppa tea or something. idk. It’s like 11:30 pm here, and I have to go into Green Bay tomorrow to see Runner, Runner so that I can write my review on it for The Rainbow Hub.
And pay my studio rent at the ARTgarage.
THE LIFE OF AN ARTING AND WRITING SQUID.
It’s tragic, yeah?
