end of the year round-up–of a sort

okay, so this month–this year–has been super-rough on me (really, on all of us), so things have not moved apace the ways that i might have wanted.

that being said, this is not that kind of post:  this is a collection of the bits and bobs i’ve enjoyed this year, the events that have been super-cool, and the things that need to be celebrated.

pop culture con: tomorrow & sunday

so, i have been largely absent from my blog since nerdcon.  just–the state of the world has me down, and i’ve been wrapped up in my nanowrimo novel:  tales from the glittering venery.

i’ve been posting excerpts to my imzy if y’all are interested in reading any of it.

but!  that’s not actually why i’m here today.  i’m here–bugging y’all during the capitalist height of the year–to tell y’all that i’m actually at a con this weekend!  (like, i’m literally on the road now.)  i’m at pop culture con in st. charles.  it’s a nes con, but i think it might be fun.
svengoolie’s gonna be there, so it’s got potential?

see y’all this weekend.

courage.

miles of art and other suspects

miles of art is, like, tomorrow, so yeah, i’m going to be at woodland studios all weekend with my art (and woodbody’s and ben’s), but if you’d like a preview (or if you can’t go), ben created one of those 360 not-video things of the exhibit.

it’s pretty swank.

and, on to other things!  including brown county library’s comic con.

*tra lala la la*

giveaways, new quarter, and general shenanigans

first thing the first:  i’m having a giveaway over on my tumblr.  fantastic prizes await the winner!  (or, something?)

the end of the art walk season and the possibility of nerdcon: stories

(re:  here is a more thorough presentation of information, likes, and reasonings because there is no such thing as overkill, there’s just enough kill.)

before i forget, there’s a meet the artist at the ARTgarage on thursday, august 20th from 5-8pm.  so, come a meet some artists?

so, as per usual, the definitely depere art walk ended not with a bang but with a wimper.

okay, there was some bang because storm but yeah.

so–things

and, yeah, i realize that the first post i’ve done in forever being at almost 3(-ish)am my time is peculiar, but insomnia and depression do strange things to your brain.  *hands*

this post comes in five parts.

first part the first:  definitely depere starts this week, and I have been remiss in saying anything about it.

(my brain is/has been an unhappy, tumultuous place, and for some reason, art-related anything has been difficult for me to talk about?  idek.)

lootcrate, gallery nite, pretty deadly, and wicdiv

so–i’ve been busy again, especially since i just picked up reviewing several comic series for The Rainbow Hub:  Pretty Deadly by Kelly Sue DeConnickThe Wicked + The Divine by Kieron GillenSex Criminals by Matt Fraction (who wrote Hawkeye), and Saga by Brain K. Vaughn (who wrote Runaways).

my Sex Criminals and Saga recap reviews come out later this week, but DECONNICK AND GILLEN BOTH REBLOGGED MY REVIEWS ON TUMBLR.

I HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLY BUSY; I’M SO SORRY.

i’m not even kidding.  between moving out of my studio at the ARTgarage, The Hub shenanigans (including a podcast–WE DID OUR FIRST PODCAST!), a really important commission (more below), and my own projects like projecTransparency and the sketch-a-day project–ears, y’all, up to my pointed little ears.

it’s kind of a nice change of pace.

now, if i could only manage to do things like go to the grocer or, ya know, other adulting-type things.

I AM ADULT DEFICIENT.

so–commission.  i just sent off the variety of sizes of the file this morning after wonder why did i become so adept at photoshop?  (protip:  i’m not.  i just like to pretend that i am.)  but, it’s for geonn cannon’s the rise and fall of radiation canary, and the novel is amazing.

and, i think my design is pretty amazing too.

and, it’s available as a shirt–and other goods–over here on redbubble.

y’all should buy shirts.  i’ve already been paid, so i say this as someone who just REALLY WANTS ONE FOR THEMSELVES.

…i didn’t think to put I GET A FREAKIN’ SHIRT in the contract.  oh, well.  live and learn.

i’ve also been sketch-a-day-ing it up with cecaelia and–my little pony.

i also updated the cephalabun and did a funko-inspired yona from snowpiercer sketch, which i kind of adore.

i’m actually thinking about making my piece for the ARTgarage’s pop culture show in january be a polyptych of  the core group from my little pony:  friendship is magic.  *hands*

i have also set up my patreon completely.  there are perks and milestones, and i’m even remembering to post patron-only content.

sooooooooooooooo, if you’d like to support me and my endeavor, there ya go, and here’s my intro video to it (as well as the other videos i’ve been forgetting to post because i suck):

there might be more?  maybe?  i don’t really know.

i did say that i have been horribly remiss.

okay.  things to do; art to make; lootcrate toys to play with.

courage.
