okay, not super-literally. it’s more of a question before i start nuts-and-bolts-ing things: would y’all be interested in being able to obtain your own squishy?
i dunno about y’all, but i have the worst worst winter doldrums usually and this year in particular.
but–okay–before i really get into things and THINGS (bs there’s always things), can we just talk about how increasingly traumatic and upsetting (in an educational way) steven universe is becoming? while still being an amazing show? like, especially in regards to pearls, the expansion of the homeworld’s purview, and trans-gem fusion (otherwise known as slavery, colonialism, and miscegenation)?
with a little bit of holiday bonus! \o/
because there needs to be some consolation this week.
thing the first: MY PROFILE IS UP ON THE MINNEAPOLIS COMIC CON SITE!!!
(i’ve honestly given up on anyone spelling my anything correctly–even when it’s in print in front of them. c’est la vie.)
and, thing the second: THE ARTGARAGE IS GOING TO BE IN A COMMERCIAL!!!
so, american express (and nbc? i’m kinda hazy on the specifics of how everything happened) wanted to use a local business for the thanksgiving day/game day commercial about small business, and the artgarage was chosen.
evidently, they also took shots of the gallery in addition to the holiday shop, so there is a chance that my art is going to be in this commercial?!?!?!?!
so, for those of you who watch football and have, ya know, a tv that y’all watch things live (unlike me), the commercial is set to air during the third quarter of the packers/bears game.
and, that is our excitement.
(both will be updated throughout the holiday shopping so check back, and if you’ve seen something from my sketch-a-day 2015 or on my instagram, let me know, and i’ll do everything that i can do to make it available.)
(totally a slideshow. there’s a way to put slideshows into wordpress now sans plug-ins!)
and, of course, there’s always the option of a commission (or two).
just things to consider.
yep, that’s right. i started a kickstarter campaign for an illustration chapbook: tentacle-made: the illustrations of ‘trie blasingame. Continue reading
yep. i’m still awake.
and, it’s snowing.
i’ve been up since 1 am, and now, it’s 3:45 am, and i have to be up at 8:30 am so that i can venture into the world to work in my ARTgarage studio (and attend the ARTgarage’s annual celebration of existing–i think? evidently, i wasn’t paying attention.).
there are so many things are going on, so this is going to be super random?
miles of art in shawano county is coming up on saturday and sunday, and i’m severely freaking out. if y’all would like to come and see me and my art, i’m going to be at woodland studio in downtown shawano–probably sewing eyes on little plush friends.
so–that’s not creepy at all.
and, if miles of art isn’t enough, i have nerdcon: stories the next weekend in minneapolis. (hence, the sewing of eyes on little plush friends.) i have my exclusive nerdcon art piece (and related swag) done and ready, and it’s going to be my little plague doctor.
the plague doctor has also become a painting that will be available to purchase too. (assuming that no one buys him this weekend?)
but, because i realize that miles of art and nerdcon are not in everyone’s neighborhood who might want some plague doctor swag, i’ve uploaded two versions of the plague doctor to my redbubble until the end of october as a limited edition–thingie.
related to all of this, i’m waiting for a new print shipment. special, new prints that have never before been prints for nerdcon and, possibly, miles of art. (yep, i’m gonna have bits and bobs to buy. DEMOCRATIZE ART THROUGH BUTTONS.)
(i’m totally not the only person who thinks like this. jessica joslin, a mixed media artist from chicago who utilizes taxidermy in her work, is part of a vending machine-based button show in chicago right now. bless.)
i’m also working on pieces for the artgarage’s quirky show. (i haven’t been accepted yet, but these were pieces that i wanted to work on anyway, so we do the work and worry about being accepted later.)
i’m still trying to decide if i’m going to apply for the artgarage’s holiday shop. i probably should. (i need to ask when the application fee is due.)
i purchased a new/another stylus. the 53 pencil, which i really like the shape and feel and slide of the thing, but i also think the firmware hasn’t been updated to reflect the newest iOS updates, so it’s not quite working the way that it should in procreate yet.
i’ve also been asked to design a shingle for a lamp shop and to potentially consign work with them. this is exciting, yeah?
so, that’s the completely disconnected update. i’m not sure it’s much of one, but in the meantime, feel free to check out tentacle-made studios (and me, ‘trie) in our various and sundry social media, internet homes:
- quixotism and curiosity: from tentacle-made studios
- tentacle-made studios on twitter

okay! time for more work!
this blog (which is a lot of word and not a lot of image) comes in four parts–mostly because it’s tidy, and i’m ridiculously tired.
part the first: meet the artist at the ARTgarage in Green Bay is tonight from 5-8pm.
be there; be the geometric shape of your choosing; watch me demo things; talk to all of us artists.
it’s a thing.
